Make Them Strong

Here we are, again. After a little hesitation, spring has finally arrived. Wild creatures across the country are emerging from the long winter to discover what life-threatening challenges they will, inevitably, face.

Here we are, again. After a little hesitation, spring has finally arrived. Wild creatures across the country are emerging from the long winter to discover what life-threatening challenges they will, inevitably, face. This year, after 42 years of unwavering dedication and stewardship, we face our very own challenge: an orphan season without Simon.
But, despite this, we will, as Simon would have wanted, be here for the thousands of orphans who come through our doors. AND we know, with you in our corner, the animals that desperately need us will receive the care and attention they so deserve.
The weak and vulnerable orphaned wildlife need your help.
Every year, countless young animals are left in desperate need of help. Imagine a young hoglet, hungry and trembling with fear, as its mother tries to navigate the dangers of our roads, or a hatchling bird’s call going unanswered after its nest has been cut down, or the young foxes unable to keep warm when their mother doesn’t return. These vulnerable baby animals face a cruel start to life with the fight for survival impossible for them to tackle, alone. THIS is why Simon, alongside the rest of the Cowell family, started the Wildlife Aid Foundation. To make these weak, injured and defenceless animals, strong again.
Last year, our hospital dealt with over 2000 young animals, this included 1563 young birds, 211 hoglets and 156 fox cubs, but, already, we have seen a 200% increase in fox cub admissions, alone, for this time of year - and it shows no sign of stopping. With your support, we can continue to be the refuge these animals urgently need, providing them with warmth, safety and expert care whilst they grow and move closer to the life they were born to lead.
Will you help give them the strength they need for life in the wild?
We want to give each and every individual that arrives with us, the best possible chance at returning to their intended wild life, not just because they deserve it, or because we owe it to them, but, more importantly, because we are losing our precious wildlife, and wild places, at an alarming rate. And, if we lose our invaluable wildlife, there will be a negative impact on our own quality of life and health.
We must help EVERY individual animal.
In Surrey, 42% of species are declining or considered extinct, and of the 110 different species we admit, 33 of them are of conservation concern, such as the hedgehog, starling, hazel dormouse, tawny owl and even the mallard duck. This emphasises how critically important every individual is for their species, and why it is so vitally important that we prepare them not only to survive in the wild, but to be strong enough to thrive.
Will you be there for wildlife and give a donation to make them strong again?
Orphan season has officially begun and, as our care-team are tirelessly working day and night, transferring their own strength to those they are expertly caring for, we know they will undoubtedly be pushed to their limits, just as the orphans’ parents would be. Simon instilled in all of us that this work was not for the faint-hearted. At the peak of orphan season, we will see over 60 patients a day arrive in to care, each depending on us for food, warmth, and treatment, for their survival. We face the challenge of navigating orphan season without Simon, but, with your support, we remain unwavering in our mission to help as many weak, struggling and orphaned creatures as we can.
This orphan season, you can do something incredible and help provide care and support for orphaned animals. Your generous support and compassion can help make the vulnerable orphans in our care strong again… and, in turn, strengthen the legacy that Simon so passionately fought for.
Please, if you can, give a gift, and help make them strong.
Our goal is to raise £45,000 over the next FOUR months.
Your gift, today, will enable the successful return of numerous orphaned animals back into their natural habitats and, as such, critically, uphold the delicate balance between humanity and the natural world.
