MACS wants to put youth homelessness to bed!

MACS are tackling youth homelesness locally by providing a home and/or support to almost 700 young people across NI. Many of the young people we work with have experienced the care system, homelessness, poverty, adverse childhood experiences, generational trauma, the criminal justice system, low educational attainment and/or mental health challenges including substance dependency and self-harm.
MACS's focus is on holistic support and early intervention; in helping young people build a pathway out of the homelessness cycle. We support them in regaining stability, security and progressing with their lives and ambitions.
Once young people experience homelessness their risk of substance dependency, poor mental health, self-harm and involvement in crime increases as does their risk of becoming long-term or street homeless.
MACS provide homes and access to housing but we also support young people with their education and training, health and wellbeing; mental health, social participation in the community and ensure young people have life skills such as shopping, cooking, staying safe and household budgeting so they can go on to build positive futures and achieve their personal goals.
MACS is part of the Every Youth, a UK-wide network of charities tackling youth homelessness in their local communities who work together to drive change on a national scale. Belfast Sleep Out 2023 is part of a series of UK wide Sleep Outs in November.
Together we can end youth homelessness
