UPDATE 15 AUGUST 2024
Michael has had the approval to start Lutetium-177 PSMA at the end of August. Thanks to his consultant, and the hospital he will be treated at, the costs involved have reduced.
We still need your help to reach our target to ensure that Michael's full course of treatment can happen.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In October 2021, veteran paratrooper Michael Lynaghan was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. In true Para Reg style, Michael has fought a strong battle over the last two years, and his treatment had been working well until recently. His only option now is a treatment called Lutetium-177 PSMA. This treatment is NHS approved, and recommended by Michael’s consultant, but is only available as a private patient due to the cost.
Michael will need a maximum of 6 rounds of treatment, as well as numerous PET CT scans, blood tests and consultant appointments, all of which are available to him at a hospital in the UK.
SUPPORT OUR PARAS are asking for your help to raise the funds needed to get Michael this potentially lifesaving treatment, so he can watch his young children grow up. Any donation towards his treatment will make a huge difference to his family.
A restricted fund for Michael’s treatment has been set up within the charity to hold all money raised. Any unspent funds will be used to support Michael, his wife and their two children during this challenging time. After five years this fund will be reviewed and any unspent funds will either continue to be held, if there is an ongoing need for support, or converted into unrestricted funds to support other PARAS and their families.
