The Large Whale Disentanglement Team is a small group of specialist volunteers from within British Divers Marine Life Rescue. They are trained to assist whales and dolphins across Europe when these majestic mammals become entangled in ropes, netting, line, and other debris in the ocean.
The team trains regularly throughout the year to ensure they are skilled and ready to respond at any moment when the report is received of an imperilled cetacean. Rescues can be dynamic and dangerous which means every team member must be at their best performance.
