Story
Sometimes hunger is so close to us that we don't see it. Those who suffer from hunger may hide it due to embarrassment or shame, but it is a relatively large need that hits all ages. Even at Carthage, there are students, and even families of some of our employees struggling with food insecurity.
Luther's Lunchbox is a stop-and-go supplemental food program sponsored by the Center for Faith and Spirituality located in the A. F. Siebert Chapel. It is open to all Carthage students and employees, offering snacks, quick-serve breakfast, soup or pasta bowls, and more. It is an important resource for those who simply don't have enough food.
Your gift to Luther's Lunchbox will help students at Carthage find something to eat when they need it most. This Red & Ready Giving Day, we aim to raise $3,000 to help stock the shelves of Luther's Lunchbox. When we reach our goal, Kären Rasmussen '79 will double the impact!
But that's not all! If you make a gift of $100 or more, you will receive a copy of "Emilios Very Bright Idea" by Louise Green and Kären Rasmussen. This book is about a child starting their own food pantry to help other children who are hungry and is inspired by the national campaign, No Child Goes Hungry.
