Luljeta Nuzi, founder of the Shpresa Programme, passed away on February 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. This loss has deeply affected her family, friends, colleagues and all who knew her.
In 1999, Luljeta arrived in London from Albania, seeking asylum with her family. Motivated by her own experiences of isolation, she began volunteering to support her community. This dedication led to the establishment of the Shpresa Programme in 2001. Today, Shpresa is a vibrant UK charity supporting people to connect, share experiences and thrive. In addition to support services, Shpresa provides education and training, youth and family programmes, leadership development, advocacy and community-building. Luljeta worked tirelessly to successfully raise funds for the purchase of Mansfield House, to provide a permanent home for the communities she served. As well as a home for Shpresa’s work, we are developing the building into a community hub and bringing communities together to share lived experiences and learn from one another.
Luljeta was one in a million, and she made a lasting impact on countless lives. Her friends, family and colleagues have vowed to continue this work in her memory. To honour Luljeta, we are raising funds for the Shpresa Programme.
Please donate today and help us carry forward Luljeta’s legacy. No contribution is too small – every pound will make a difference in sustaining the work of Shpresa.
Thank you for your kindness and support. Help to honour Luljeta’s memory by continuing her work and making a lasting impact. #ForeverInOurHearts #LegacyOfLuljeta #SupportShpresa
