Currently, 12 children a day receive the news that it is cancer. Young Lives vs Cancer will be there for that child and the whole family, to support them through everything that cancer may throw at them.

For children and young people, a diagnosis means undergoing gruelling treatment (which can last up to three years), as well as attending hospital for procedures and check-ups, sometimes for years afterwards. Prolonged absences from school or university can have a profound impact on their education, opportunities, and friendships, as well as impacting their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Young Lives vs Cancer are there to minimize the disruption cancer causes to children and young people. They do this by providing one-to-one emotional support and specialist advice and information; education and employment assistance; and by signposting them to peer groups and participation opportunities that will aid their mental health and build resilience and positivity. By doing this, we aim to ensure that young cancer patients are able to envision a life beyond cancer.
