Story
On May 5th, 2012, Jenny Rayner and her family experienced the devastating impact of mental illness when their daughter Lucy took her own life at the age of 22.
This life-altering event motivated Jenny and her family to advocate for mental health awareness, particularly focusing on the challenges faced by young adults. They quickly discovered that the support and resources available for recognizing and treating mental health issues in young adults were severely lacking and underfunded.
Jenny found that her determination to address these issues was shared by many others. With her strong business acumen, entrepreneurial skills, and over 30 years of experience in marketing, media, and event management, Jenny was uniquely positioned to make a significant impact in raising awareness of this critical issue.
This led to the creation of The Lucy Rayner Foundation.
The Lucy Rayner Foundation, is a mental health charity that offers various services, including:
- Weekly Support Groups
- Suicide Bereavement Service
- Mental Health Training
- Monthly Coffee Mornings
We provide six free counseling sessions to all young adults aged 14 to 39 and offer numerous support services to those struggling with their mental health. The charity was established in response to the tragic loss of Lucy Rayner, who died by suicide at the age of 22.
Every £35 donation funds one free counseling session for a young adult in desperate need of support. To illustrate the importance of fundraising events, consider our figures from earlier this year:
Your donations enable us to continue providing this essential support.
