Story
Sammie McFarland, CEO, founded Long Covid Kids in September 2020 as a direct consequence of her daughter, Kitty, developing Long Covid from infection in the first wave of the pandemic.
And Kitty is far from alone - she is one of some estimated 63,000 children and young people currently living with Long Covid in the UK. Like Kitty, many children have lost lots of time at school and continue to live with symptoms that prevent them from spreading their wings and doing the things they love.
Families caring for children living with Long Covid struggle to access health and social care support for their children and adolescents who are now living with long term health challenges and varying degrees of disability. These children face numerous obstacles and challenges.
Long Covid Kids believes all children should be able to thrive and look forward to a positive future. We intend to achieve recognition, support and recovery for Long Covid and related illnesses in children and young people.
