Story
Street Action is a UK charities who supports the work of New Generation in Burundi.
New Generation emerged from the civil war that swept Burundi between 1993-2005. They continue to respond to the effects of years of civil war amongst the young generations on the streets: engaging them through outreach, back to school and re-integration support and entrepreneurship training for older boys and young women. They work to enable children and young people from the streets to reach their full potential and become leaders of a new Burundi.
In 2018 we raised funds to purchase a plot of land in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, which is now the permanent home of New Generation. Alongside helping developing their programmes, our focus for 2019 is to help them raise the money needed to build the first permanent building on this site.
Some of this money is being kindly donated by individual and corporate donors, but as a wider team of supporters, we are going to cycle/run/walk/swim the 10,000 km between London and Bujumbura, and raise money for New Generation as we do!
The #London2Buja campaign will see a Ride-a-thon in Richmond Park (21 July), a four day cycle through north wales (7-10 September) as well as many other individual rides, runs, swims and walks.
