Story
For nearly 70 years The National Bobath Cerebral Palsy Centre has been committed to providing support, therapy and information to people living with cerebral palsy (CP) and their families, for life.
Cerebral palsy is a life-long condition that is often caused by a stormy start in life. It is the most common childhood disability, affecting 2 in every 1000 live births, and there isn't a cure. Every year, our expert team supports over 300 individuals, from babies and toddlers to teenagers and adults, with specialist therapy. Therapy which may help someone manage pain, increase mobility or just get on with their day-to-day life.
The need for our services is increasing, sadly, as the over-stretched NHS can't cope with demand and the cost of living crisis forces many living with CP to make difficult choices between essential therapy or paying a bill.
Your very kind donation will enable us to carry on our work, supporting more children, more families and more individuals.
I arrive at the Bobath Centre feeling desperate; I leave with hope renewed.
Rhys' Goal - Competing
Rhys Heal is a remarkable 16-year-old. As a small child, his parents brought him to The National Bobath Cerebral Palsy Centre. which provides specialist therapy to help children with cerebral palsy develop their motor skills & communication. Through years of hard work and dedication since, Rhys has made incredible progress, developing the strength and control he needs to take on new challenges.
One of Rhys's greatest passions is swimming and he’s now a member of the London Disability Swimming Club, where he has quickly proved himself to be a talented and determined athlete.
Today, Rhys is a regular competitor in swimming meets across the UK. He has won numerous medals and shows no signs of slowing down. Who knows? One day, we may see Rhys at the Olympics!
From the moment we arrived we knew we were in the right place.
Bobaby!
Finding out your baby has a disability, or is at risk of developmental delay, can be upsetting. Families may not know where to start, and can end up feeling isolated or anxious. Our team of experienced therapists has developed 'Bobaby!' - weekly sessions for babies under 2.5 - to support families in a fun, relaxed setting with therapeutic play and expert advice.
It was such fun that, for those 45 minutes, I forgot that he was different
Thank you for your support.
