Story So Far...

Love Mercy Hope has been working with Naqshbandi Muhammadi Order of South Africa (they also operate in Zambia) since 2019, distributing hot meals to those who need it the most, planting fruit trees, giving out Zakat and supporting a growing community of Muslims that attend the Madrassah in Zambia. With our teams on the ground we have established that there is a need for Village/Complex.

School

Two classrooms have been built with another classroom that is incomplete. The school is currently being used by 340 students and this is double the number of students prior to the completion of the project. One of the crucial things that I need to bring to your attention is that the area does not have proper sanitation. The school and all its attendees use two long drop toilets and with the growth of this community this could become a health risk. The trenches have already been dug for the septic tanks and we are waiting on funds to complete the one classroom and the toilets.

Orphanage

We are looking to build an orphanage that will accommodate 20 bunker beds; this would be built alongside the mosque. As funds arise, the rest of the structure can be completed in due time.

Many areas in Africa are in need of Orphanages, as there are always children that are in need of care.

We will employ a full-time imam and his family to take care of the children. A fence will be constructed around the land area at a later stage.

Security wise, there will be mesh wire fencing, fire doors and 5 CCTV cameras around the building. Safeguarding protocols will be implemented by the team on the ground.

Mosque

This has been planned for 2024, building a mosque in the Kapini district would be a massive win for the Muslim community in that area because they isn’t one nearby. Especially when taking into account that Muslim community in this district is growing.

The Mosque will help reverts with their identity, facilitate their learning, prayer and will be a place of refuge.

Toilets

The idea with the toilets is to build an ablution block that serves BOTH the mosque and the orphanage which means it will have several toilets and showers divided into a men’s and woman’s section. This does not have to be inside the orphanage and can be a short distance (few meters) away from the building. There will be 10 toilets, 4 showers and 2 disabled toilets. The toilets will be maintained and cleaned by the orphanage caretakers.

Fruit Trees

Land has already been allocated for this, we aim to plant fruits trees of many different types, including Lemon, Mango, Guava and Avocado.
