Story
You cannot give the world but you can help to make it accessible for all.
Children with early visual impairments frequently experience delayed motor, language, emotional, social and cognitive development and may struggle to perform academically. As adults they have a higher likelihood of developing anxiety and depression and are more inclined to social isolation. Most students with visual impairments need some kind of technology for effective learning.
At Linden Lodge School we believe in the power of technology to support people with visual impairments to develop communication and language, to access learning and to achieve independence and social inclusiveness at school, at home and in the wider community.
Technology has opened a new door for people with visual impairments. It has the power to help Linden Lodge pupils in multiple dimensions:
In their social relationships and interaction
In their emotional wellbeing and personal satisfaction
In their opportunities for employment
In their self-determination
In their autonomy and personal choice
In their recreation and leisure
In their communication and language skills
In their community integration
In their personal development and fulfilment.
