Story
Thank you visiting our page. We have set up a group fund with Sarcoma UK in memory of Lily. It will be used to highlight Lily’s story, and link all our fundraising pages together.
Lily is much loved, and deeply missed by all her family and friends! She was an incredible young woman who excelled in all aspects of life. Lily studied Physics at the University of Manchester, and enjoyed a busy lifestyle with many academic, social, and sporting commitments. During her third year at university, a small lump started to develop on the side of her foot. This grew significantly over a few months, and Lily was subsequently diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, at the age of 20. The disease had already spread to other parts of the body, so the prognosis was not good. We were all devastated, but Lily showed her resilience by completing her final year at university, achieving a first class degree and securing a top graduate job in London. Lily and Joe then had a beautiful wedding at her grandparent’s house in Lymm. They created so many special memories growing up together with their closest family and friends around them. Lily had a huge impact on the lives of those around her.
The treatment process involved several combinations of chemotherapy drugs, alongside targeted radiotherapy. Initially this was successful, however more tumours started to grow whilst she was on maintenance treatment. Following two years of treatment, Lily passed away peacefully in December 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. It is hard to comprehend the magnitude of what she went through, but she would never let it define her. Lily faced cancer with courage, strength, resilience and class.
Any donations are much appreciated, and thank you to everyone who has completed charity events in Lily’s memory.
