Story
The Lighthouse Project is a part of the local community development charity Inspire Middleton. The vision of the charity is to inspire people, places and organisations in and around the town, to make Middleton a better place to live, work and visit.
The people part of the charitys vision is achieved through the work of the Lighthouse Project, which also hosts and includes Middleton Central Foodbank, Lighthouse Pantry and Lighthouse Money Advice, and many other related activities and groups.
Since June 2010 the Lighthouse has seen a footfall of over 200,000 visits from all kinds of people needing help and support. Covid-19 aside, we typically see around 33,000 visits per year for use of our internet access, employability support, food and financial crisis intervention, social groups and leisure activities. Things that can make a practical difference in peoples lives.
As a self- funded charity we have to raise the money to provide our services through grants, gifts, and regular donations. We are not government or council funded, although many assume we are, and currently we receive some core funding view the National Lottery's Community Fund. Our long-term aim is to become less grant dependent so that we are not trapped in or at risk due to grant funding cycles, which is where your support can help us to do this.
We are local people seeking to make a difference in our locality, and with your help we can continue to see change and make a difference in the lives of so many individuals and families.
