Thousands feared dead, more are missing after rain brings floods and landslides
We have launched an emergency appeal to help those affected. Please donate if you can.
Initial reports indicate that more than 2,000 people have died and thousands are missing, after Storm Daniel caused unprecedented floods in north eastern Libya.
The eastern cities of Benghazi, Sousse, Derna and Al-Marj have been affected and Derna, which is home to 100,000 people, has been submerged after two dams reportedly burst nearby.
Entire neighbourhoods are thought to have been swept away.
Whilst the situation is still unfolding, it's clear that there are urgent and immediate needs to respond to.
Please note: The Libya floods appeal will cover areas affected by the floods and those potentially affected in the future. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and efficiently spent, any surplus funds will be used to help us prepare for and respond to other humanitarian disasters anywhere in the world.
