Story
The LETS Hub offers free support and training for people trying to get into work. Individuals spend 12 weeks with the team and receive intensive support and training to ensure they have as many of the right skills they need to increase their chances of finding a job. Sessions include how to write a CV, improve confidence in an interview, maths and English refresher courses and one to one support in how to fill out an application form.
A job offers more than just a wage, it increases self-esteem and gives people a positive focus in their life. By increasing the number of people in work, it decreases families living in poverty, improves spending locally, reduces crime rates and increases cohesion in the community.
Luton has 10,300 people who are unemployed or economically inactive and a significant proportion of these are from the BAME community.
The LETS Hub helps people to better their own future and define their own job prospects. It has been incredibly successful to date but we now need to expand its services to ensure everyone that could benefit from its support, has access to it, when they need it most.
The money raised through the appeal will enable us to open the LETS for mores hours each and for five days a week.
We have all the necessary social distancing requirements in place and are offering as much support online and virtually as possible.
