Story
“We are updating our fundraising to cover the costs of private physio, equipment, adaptations, and speech therapy for my big brother, Leon. I can play a lot more with him now that he is more mobile in his wheelchair, and I long for the day it becomes easier for us to share more and play together. :) Please help my brother work on his independence.”
Love,
Aniela (3 years old)
Thanks to an amazing amount of fundraising for Leon, he was able to have SDR surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in October 2018. It went very well, and Leon’s quality of life has improved so much that he amazes us with his progress every day.
The hard work continues, and Leon has physio and speech therapy every week through his school and privately. Our goal for Leon has always been for him to gain a level of independence that will allow him to do as much as he can on his own. This is a difficult ask of him, as his cerebral palsy affects him greatly, but thanks to the money raised, we can provide some assistance with equipment and pay for his ongoing therapy.
We have used the money raised to help fund a lightweight wheelchair so it is easier for him to self-propel, sensory equipment, and a garden so he can get himself outside, as well as ongoing physiotherapy.
Alongside these purchases, the intensive physio Leon needs helps to retrain his brain after years of relying on spasticity to move. The difference for Leon is a lifetime of using hoists and assistance versus the possibility of him being able to get himself out of his chair! So watch this space for updates:

And please help us share widely! Thank you so much for your support—it means so much to all of us.
