Story
Friends and Family of Cathal Scanlon (RIP) are planning a running and cycling challenge in loving memory of Cathal and to raise funds for TLC4CF (Tipperary, Limerick Clare for Cystic Fibrosis).
Paraic ONeill will attempt to run 210km across the country (Galway Bay to Dublin) prior to joining the rest of the group in cycling the length of the country (Mizen Head to Malin Head) for 670km - namely LengthxBreath.
The cycling group members are Eoin Ryan, Bryan Curtin, Jack Canty, Evan O'Donoghue, Luke Mackessy, Sean Fitzpatrick, William Lynch and Conall Hourigan.
The idea of mixing the pain at which Cathal endured and suffered and his love of cycling was where the idea was brought about. We wish to run and cycle with his memory firmly in our thoughts.
We would like to give our sincere thanks to Nautic, Irish Wire Products, Cargill Animal Nutrition, Kirkland Investments, EM Services, Foynes Engineering, Grasslands Agro, Samco Agricultural, Londis Adare, Brodericks Spar and Woodlands House Hotel for their generous support of this event.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an inherited genetic condition that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. People with CF experience a build-up of thick sticky mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, causing difficulty breathing. TLC4CF is a not-for-profit charity and an affiliated regional branch of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, covering Tipperary, Limerick and Clare. TLC4CF was formed in 2008 with the aim of improving hospital services, facilities and supports for people like Cathal in the mid-west region of Ireland.
We hope you will donate to this worthy cause in memory of our dear friend, Cathal.
This one's for you Sca.
