Motor Neurone Disease can affect anyone at any time and it affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. Its a disease that attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work and sadly, is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease for which there is currently no cure.

The MND Association is a charity focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for people affected by motor neurone disease.

LEEA has chosen to support the MND Association to increase awareness of the devastating disease, to raise vital funding to support research, access to care and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Kat Moss, LEEA Chair, shares a personal insight into one of the reasons why MND Association was selected as LEEAs Charity of the Year.

Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir and Ed Slater are inspirational and have really shone a spotlight on a condition many people that may never have heard of or experienced. I feel strongly that its important for us to support such a worthwhile but necessary charity.

LEEAs charity of the year is typically announced at our annual Awards evening later in the year, but in an effort to drive awareness and create a greater impact in support of a worthy cause we are taking a new and positive step forward in launching our fundraising campaign far in advance of the Awards night. We ask our members to donate any amount they can and encourage you to start your own fundraising campaigns in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
