There are many types of liver condition, including genetic, autoimmune and lifestyle-related, and an estimated one in five of us are at risk of developing liver disease. Symptoms can be difficult to spot in the early stages and three quarters of people with advanced cirrhosis are diagnosed as an emergency in hospital.
