Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The purpose of this JustGiving page is to give our little girl, Layla, a new lease on life. Layla was born with periventricular leukomalacia, which is a form of cerebral palsy. She finds it difficult to do certain things for herself, such as getting dressed, personal care, and getting around independently. She complains most days about how she is hurting, and she experiences leg cramps during the night. On 25/07/2023, we had a long assessment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and a consultation with a neurosurgeon, who has kindly offered to perform SDR surgery. This surgery will loosen Layla’s leg muscles, reducing the spasticity and enabling her to do much more for herself and fit in more with her peers. She will be able to take care of her personal care, which will make her less embarrassed about needing others to do this for her as she gets older. Most importantly, Layla will be pain-free, and she will be able to reduce all of her daily medications.

Layla loves being as independent as possible, and this surgery will no doubt give her the ability to be more independent. We’ve heard many success stories from other children who have had the surgery, and we want to give our girl the chance to do and be better.

Layla is scheduled to undergo SDR surgery on 1st December 2023. After the surgery, Layla will need intensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy to achieve the best possible outcome.

The recovery process will take two years, and it will need to be supported by the best health professionals. We are raising funds to provide Layla with private care, ensuring she receives the much-needed one-on-one support, alongside our family's care and support.

Layla is a very determined girl and wants to be able to socialize more with her peers without the difficulties she currently faces daily.

Myself, Gemma, Layla, and all our family would like to thank you in advance for any donations you make.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects. If in those circumstances we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
