Lavender Memories Walk 2021
Every year dozens of people sign up to take part in our Lavender Memory Walk. Family groups, couples and individuals come together to remember their loved ones at this special annual event. This year we are back at the beautiful Mayfield Lavender Farm as host to our starting and end point of the 6 mile circular route. There is a virtual option available for those not able to join us in person. All participants, whether taking part on the day or virtually, will once again receive a wonderful Lavender Walk t-shirts, which can be personalised with a message or the name of their loved one, and will get a fabulous finishers medal once the distance is completed.
At St Raphael's Hospice, we strive to improve the lives of those affected by terminal or life-limiting illnesses, giving them and their carers the confidence to cope and enjoy the best quality of life possible. We care for patients wherever and whenever they need us. We believe that hospice care is about life and living, not just death and dying.
The Hospice needs £6 million a year to run, relying heavily on public donations, legacies and fundraising to keep going. Thanks to the generosity of the public, we are able to make an enormous difference to the lives of 1,000 terminally-ill patients every year. We are not state-funded, even though every one of our patients is a NHS patient. We only receive about 24% of our costs from the NHS and the remainder, more than £4 Million per year, we need to raise ourselves. Without the wonderful support of those amazing people, who are willing to take on these incredible challenges, we would not be able to provide the essential services that we do.
Thank you for your support, you really are making a difference.
