Every person who steps through the doors of our foodbank shows incredible strength and courage. For many, it’s a difficult decision to ask for help, and the first visit can be filled with trepidation. But that first step opens the door to so much more than food—it’s the beginning of restored hope and reassurance that they are not alone.
When someone visits our foodbank, they are met by our volunteers with a warm welcome, a smile and a listening ear. They are offered a hot drink, a snack, and provided with a 3 day supply of food, and the essential items that can ease their struggles: toiletries, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, nappies, and even pet food. Furthermore, we offer signposting to help, advice and support to address the underlying cause of crisis and help people take practical steps to improve their situation.
Now, as the cost-of-living crisis deepens, we’re seeing more people having to make impossible choices—between food, heating, gas, or electricity. Some homes are damp, heating is unaffordable, and for many, the simple task of doing laundry has become unmanageable. Even with a washing machine, the cost of electricity, lack of a tumble dryer, or cold, damp conditions can make drying clothes, towels, and bedding nearly impossible.
To ease this burden, we’d like to offer launderette vouchers to individuals and families in crisis. These vouchers will help them wash and dry essential items like clothing, towels, and children’s bedding, and in some cases, sleeping bags. Freshly cleaned bedding isn’t just about comfort—it plays a vital role in preventing respiratory illnesses, reducing dust mites and allergens, and ensuring families stay safe, healthy, warm, clean, and dry.
This winter, your support helps us give more than food—it helps restore dignity, provide practical solutions, and bring comfort to those facing unimaginable challenges. Thank you for standing with us to support our community.
