1st Snaith Scouts are walking the distance from Lands End to Scotland John O'Groats for Snaith Community Sports Hall.
The Snaith Community Sports Hall is a charity that supports the local community housing many different groups, including ourselves. This year it showed just how dedicated to the local community it was.
Feb 2020 - saw unparalleled flooding hit Snaith. The floods closed local schools, took out roads & bridges and left a great many homes flooded. With many others fearing for their homes as the agencies battled to contain the flood waters and rising river levels.
The Community Sports Hall along with the Priory Church became the focal point for the relief effort. They both became the points for food, clothing and essentials to be brought. They both provided warm alternative accomadation for those in need. They organized the distribution of food and essentials to those who had been affected and the elderly homes given that there was now only ONE road in or out of Snaith.
The flood waters subsides and roads into Snaith became passable - then the COVID isolation hit. This destroyed the ability of community groups meeting in the hall and its ability to raise funds, as people focused on remaining safe. The Community Sports Hall once again was involved in food distributions.
We want to raise fund to ensure the continued existence of our wonderful Community Sports Hall, which has truly been at the heart of our community during this unprecedentedly difficult year.
1st Snaith Scouts will be walking the distance from Lands End to Scotland John O'Groats to raise fund to support our Community Sports Hall. Our young people aged from 6 years old upwards, will share this challenge between them with the support of their families.
Please support us raising money to ensure our Community Sports Hall which has done so much for us this year, remains open for future years to use.
