Story
Before Kura Neza, Kevin (name changed) spent 3 to 4 years living on the streets, facing abuse, hunger, and insecurity at a very young age due to poverty and family conflicts. Through the programme, he returned to school, regained confidence, built friendships, and now enjoys learning and playing cricket.
Today, he dreams of completing his education and become a driver -changing his family’s future.

---------------------
Around the Gahanga Cricket Stadium in Kigali, too many children are not in school. They may drop out due to family issues and a lack of money to afford the basics: books, fees, and a uniform. Being out of school not only severely limits their life chances, but makes them vulnerable: to street-association, risky behaviours and abuse.
The Kura Neza Programme exists to address this and re-integrate children into a nurturing school environment. We work with schools, children and parents and provide the basic materials along with ongoing support, including having Ambassadors in each relevant school. Cricket sessions build rapport with the team and teachers and provide a safe space to (re)build social connection and confidence.
To date, we've re-integrated 123 children. 100% of them remain in school, with a 98%+ attendance rate and higher than average academic performance.
Your support helps us to continue to ensure that they have a brighter future. £75 covers the entire cost of supporting a child for a year.
