Story

At the end of 1997 Kentish Town Baitul Aman Mosque was started. Even back then there was hardly enough space for people to observe prayers. Throughout the years people have been planning and hoping of creating a bigger masjid. Finally, on March 20th 2020 we were able to purchase the building for £1.2 million.

Located in the heart of Queens Crescent Market, one of the busiest locations in the Borough of Camden, we have seen the number of worshippers growing rapidly year upon year. The masjid is now seen as prominent as there is no other mosques with such substantial worshippers within the 6 neighbouring wards of Camden.

With around 7-8 thousand worshippers, the masjid is still too small to accommodate everyone for prayers. With the necessity to expand, temporary arrangements have been made by joining the floorspace of the adjoining shop building to create more space for praying.

The masjid is current in a debt of £220000 due to qard-e-hasana loans which was considered as important for the mosque expansion plans. For refurbishment, another £500,000 is needed. Upon completion, it will mean that at least 4/500 people can congregate in prayer together at our beloved mosque.

The plans also ensure that the mosque becomes all inclusive for the whole of the community with enough space for women facilities and modern Islamic education facilities including Arabic classes for children.

The worshippers are the beating heart of the masjid and we are grateful they enable us to run the mosque with their support and donations. We respectfully remember the eldery worshippers, those who passionately and eagerly awaited for a bigger masjid that they could proudly pray at. All who have now passed, we pray for their souls, may Allah grant them Jannah.

Finally we ask our brothers and sisters in the ummah to help us cultivate a locally loved masjid by each generation. We need your support even more than before, please help us build a house for eachother in Jannah by building a house of Allah together in the dunya.

May Allah reward all efforts, intentions and donations.

By the grace of Allah we here in Kentish Town are in the process of purchasing the existing place of worship that was rented for over a decade, including the area attached to it. The current place of worship attracts people from all backgrounds and ethnicity. The mosque runs several activities such as weekdays and weekend schools, tafseerul quran in English and other languages for all. The place is overwhelmingly busy but regrettably there is insufficient space. There is demand for more. The total price is 1.2 million pounds, a deposit of £300,000 (three hundred thousand) has been paid to secure the building Alhamdulillah. we need to raise another £800,000.00.
