Story
Kirrie Connections is an award-winning dementia charity, based in the Angus town of Kirriemuir. It was the first charity in Scotland to follow the "Meeting Centre" model of dementia support and has been leading the development of this model across Scotland.
In 2021 they purchased new premises on the Roods in Kirriemuir and spent six months converting the building into a warm and welcoming community hub. Since then, the number of families supported by Kirrie Connections has rocketed, with over 70 families receiving direct support since the new building opened to the public. Because of this, the current layout of the building has already reached capacity, and we are now looking to build a new extension to offer more space both for Kirrie Connections and the wider community.
The new extension will form a multipurpose hall that will offer more space for the wide variety of creative and physical activities the members of Kirrie Connections participate in every day. It will also be available in the evenings and weekends for other community groups to hire. In addition to this, the back of our site will be transformed from an ugly car park into a new secluded garden oasis.
The total cost of the build will be over £500,000, but we are looking to raise £20,000 from the local community to get the ball rolling on the development. This initial funding will be crucial in showing community support for the project, which will, in turn, help us leverage the rest of the money we need.
So please help out today by either donating to the page here or setting up your own fundraiser to help us hit our target. Every penny helps!
