Story
Kiota. It means 'nest' in Swahili. A safe space with all the nourishment - emotional, educational and physical - needed to flourish in the world.
That is what we aim to provide for the c. 100 young vulnerable people in Tanzania we support each year. With a focus on supporting girls who are impacted by systemic and generational trauma and poverty, we look to provide access to the tools necessary for self-determination and confidence. So that when they eventually leave the nurturing safety of the nest, they can fly high.
These last 18 months have be challenging, as many of Kiota's usual routes for fundraising have closed thanks to the Pandemic. This has left us vulnerable and means that the future of the school, and its many students, are in jeopardy. We are closer to the cliff edge than ever before.
By taking part in the Peak District Challenge, or sponsoring someone else who is, you can help raise vital funds for our work in Tanzania. This will ensure that the young people we support can continue to access the safety and stability they need to spread their wings and create a brighter future for themselves.
