Story
As a legacy to 150 years of the school, the PTFA of Kingswear Primary is raising funds to give the children a new and exciting playground. There is not a lot of space to run and play around the school, but with a little creativity, we can build a fantastic space to meet all the childrens physical and social needs.
Kingswear Primary School first opened as a Board School in June 1871, one of the many National Schools which opened in the Victorian era, providing an education for children aged 5 to 10 years old. The small school has served the village ever since and is currently attended by 32 children aged 3 to 11.
We had planned for many exciting community events which have all unfortunately had to be postponed.
- We were going to open up our school as a museum showcasing its history for anyone interested in its Victorian origins - we have a lot of interesting memorabelia.
- A birthday party was planned for Friday 9th July in Jubilee Park at the Creek where the children and our community would have enjoyed birthday cake, fun and games plus the grand reveal of our time capsule - created to let future generations know what it was like to live through the Covid pandemic. This will be buried at a later date in the park.
If you would like to support this project we would be so grateful!
