Kim’s Zip Wire Challenge for Ride2Give

Campaign by Ride2Give

After surviving sepsis and losing all four limbs, Kim Smith now raises awareness to help save lives. This May, she’s taking on a zip wire challenge for Ride2Give—supporting disabled people and families in her local community.

Providing support to families facing challenges with Disabilities, Illnesses and Severe Financial Difficulties.

Story

In November 2017, Kim Smith developed what seemed like a routine infection. A UTI quickly progressed into sepsis — a life-threatening condition that often goes unrecognised. Kim survived, but the impact was devastating. By February 2018, she had lost all four of her limbs.

Many people would have retreated after that. Kim moved forward.

Since her recovery, Kim has dedicated her life to raising awareness of sepsis, determined that others recognise the warning signs early and get help in time. She is now a proud ambassador for sepsis research and works tirelessly every day to help save lives through education and awareness.

Alongside this, Kim has become a passionate supporter of Ride2Give — a biker-led charity that quietly but powerfully supports disabled people and families in local communities. No fuss. No fanfare. Just genuine help where it’s needed most.

In 2025, Kim planned to take on a zip wire challenge for Ride2Give — but life intervened in the best possible way. She received a hand transplant, an extraordinary milestone that meant the challenge had to be postponed.

Now, in May, Kim is ready.

This zip wire isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a statement of resilience, gratitude, and belief in community. Every donation helps Ride2Give continue their work supporting disabled people locally — people who Kim knows first-hand often rely on quiet acts of kindness rather than headlines.

Kim also asks one simple thing: please be aware of sepsis symptoms with any infection. Early action saves lives.

Thank you for reading, for donating if you can, and for supporting both this challenge and the people it helps.
