Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! This August the Rafiki Thabo family is taking on our biggest challenge yet as we put the spotlight on how anyone, including those living with disability, can overcome the most extreme challenges with a bit of support. Just like our scholars for whom poverty would, without our help, have prevented them from getting an education and hope for a better future.

By donating, or fundraising for us by taking part in our Virtual Kilimanjaro Trek, you will help us enable disadvantaged children in Kenya, Uganda, and Lesotho to transform their lives through education. Many of whom are living with disabilities, many of whom are orphaned. £350 can pay for a whole year at secondary school and £80 can pay for daily nutritious school meals for a full year for a child who would otherwise go hungry. With an education these young people can fulfil their potential, secure good employment and in turn support their families and contribute to economic growth in their local communities. Just like Annette:

Our truly inspirational patrons: blind TV presenter Amar Latif, England International Cerebral Palsy Footballer Harry Baker and extreme explorer Bob Bhania, who have all in their own way succeeded in the face of adversity, and whose stories offer so much hope, confidence and determination to our scholars and graduates, are climbing Kilimanjaro together with two Rafiki Thabo graduates Ayiesa and Derek, whose lives were transformed through education.

Joined by our fundraiser Janne and a group of wonderful supporters, this is the Rafiki Thabo family who are braving Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for our important work: Highlighting the importance and transformative power of education, and demonstrating to all our scholars that they too can follow their dreams and achieve what might seem impossible. They just need a little help to start their journey: help which is enabled through the generosity of our supporters. Learn more about the amazing impact you can have from some of our scholars and graduates in this film and meet our graduate Morake as he tells his story.
