Kier Group has selected the British Heart Foundation, the biggest independent funder of cardiovascular research in the UK, as its new corporate charity partner. The two-year partnership will help in the charitys aim of increasing awareness of cardiovascular disease, raise £250,000 for vital research in to heart and circulatory conditions as well as train 1,500 Kier colleagues in the lifesaving first aid, CPR.
Currently, a quarter of all deaths in the UK are a result of cardiovascular disease, a clear reason why Kiers 20,000-strong workforce opted to support the renowned charity. The British Heart Foundation is a prominent nationwide charity funding life saving research to help end heartbreak for the seven million people in the UK living with cardiovascular disease. For over 50 years it has pioneered research that has transformed the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions and has been pivotal to offering vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease.
The partnership will not only help fund this life saving research but will also roll out a Kier lifesavers initiative which will equip colleagues across the business with practical and potentially lifesaving CPR skills and information. The Kier Foundation, an independent charity, will hold various fun and engaging fundraising events across the business and encourage employees to raise funds for the charity and help reach the £250,000 two year target. Working together, the partnership will also highlight the small changes people can make to their lifestyles that can have a very real impact on their heart and circulatory system.
