Story
6% of children in the UK experience bullying every day. That’s equivalent to one child per classroom. Bullying impacts self-esteem, mental health, relationships, and educational attainment.
Oscar’s story
Oscar * (15) was bullied so severely that he threatened to take his own life. The bullying did not stop, and Oscar’s family had to involve the police because he was receiving death threats. He went from being a self-confident and outgoing boy into a child who didn’t trust adults and children his own age.
He refused to go to school, and eventually, his family had to move him to a school in a different town. It was at this stage that a friend of the family suggested they contact Kidscape. Oscar attended one of our ZAP workshops. In their own words, the family told us:
‘Kidscape offered a lifeline to Oscar and our family. He was transformed by his contact with your organization and is now a self-confident young man who is thriving at his new school.’
