Story

Hello. My name is Kevin and I'm 8 years old. I'm non-verbal, autistic and I have learning disabilities. I was born at 25 weeks gestation and I spent the first 22 months of my life in three different hospitals. I was born at Medway Maritime hospital, then transferred to Great Osmond street hospital and later Evelina Children's Hospital.

I tried all the breathing machine but none was working for me. By the time I was 11 months old tracheostomy was my only option. My parents had meeting with eight doctors and all were against me having tracheostomy except one doctor. The odds of me surviving was 25% and 75% I wasn't going to make it. To God be the Glory I survived the operation. The odds of me staying alive remind the same for the 1st two weeks of my surgery. I was discharged at 22 months in hospital on 24hrs ventilation and on 5 litres of oxygen when asleep and 2 litres when awake via tracheostomy. So far I've been through eight surgeries in my young life but despite this I'm very cheeky and always on the move.

I'm asking for help to make my garden safe for me to play in as my local council have refused to help. My garden is very steep and needs to be levelled out and cut into three spaces with a soft floor to walk on. The fences also need to be higher.

I have sensory problems and am not good at waiting. I always go out with a trained gastronomy and tracheostomy carer with all my equipment as I need them. When my parents take me to the park I always enjoyed the swing but I have to share with other which is tricky for me so I would love to be able to go on my own swing in the garden. I would also love a trampoline.

My mom is trained to care for me during the day and I have nurse/ carer at night so my mom can rest.

Please kindly help me to make my wish come true.
