Kent's safehouse for women survivors and their children

Every year, Anti-Slavery Day is marked on 18 October. As part of a week-long calendar of events to raise awareness of modern slavery, we shine a light on the work we're doing with survivors in Kent, while raising vital funds for our work.

Story

Medaille Trust exists to provide refuge and freedom from modern slavery.

Founded in 2006, what started with a house for women trafficked into sex work in Southampton has grown rapidly into a national network of safehouses and outreach hubs. Today we're one of the UK's largest providers of survivor services, with ten safehouses and six outreach hubs across the country. Our aim is to empower survivors to reach their potential and reclaim their place in society.

Our Coastal safehouse supports women who have been exploited and their children to recover from their experiences of exploitation and regain their independence. Our fundraising helps us to keep providing this service to some of society’s most vulnerable individuals, and your support makes a real difference in the lives of women survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking.

We believe everyone deserves to live a life free from slavery and exploitation. Through our network of safe-houses and community outreach hubs, we provide protection to adult victims and their dependent children and empower them to become survivors. We also raise awareness and support initiatives that aim to prevent others from becoming victims, and proactively seek justice for our clients through our partnerships with law enforcement agencies.
