Story
New Cross Learning (NXL) was re-opened as a community library in 2011. Since then, it has been run by many of the same volunteers, who have been joined by many newcomers since.
NXL provides a full library service, engages with local primary schools, provides free computer and internet access and internal and external IT support.
We offer information and advice, help with form-filling (eg PIP), pension credits, access to Lewisham and Central Govt services, signposting to other local advice organisations. We also host the local Credit Union.
We provide space for the warm bank, a singing baby bounce, knitting groups, Code Club. And lets not forget the award-winning public toilet!
The Lewisham Local History Society's archive of things resides in the basement.
NXL raises funds by selling secondhand books and other media, printing and scanning, and space hire. But this is not enough to cover rising energy costs.
We need your help, please.
