Story
Help us keep the Children's Hospice at Home on the road!
The rising cost of living is putting a real strain on small charities, especially those that have a need to travel. The nurses working for the children's hospice at home service that the Pepper Foundation funds, need to visit patients every day.
Each child has complex needs that are unique to them; the children and their families depend upon the nurses' ability to travel to their home to administer care that they urgently need, day or night.
The cost of fuel has risen by 12% since the beginning of 2022; this has increased the cost for the nursing team to visit families.
The Children's Hospice at Home service helps to care for children like James and his family. You can read about their story here.
So, how can you help?
Last year the nursing team drove over 22,313 miles (that's almost once around the earth); as we move beyond the pandemic, the nursing team will be doing even more mileage. In fact, during April the nursing team did 80 patient visits, which is an increase from this time last year.
We are asking our supporters to sponsor the nursing team's mileage, with the hope of reaching a target of sponsoring 20,000 miles (£10,000). So you could sponsor a trip to visit a patient: 30-mile trip = £15.
Another way would be to pay for a tank of fuel. A tank of fuel = £50
Or maybe you'd prefer to walk a mile in the nursing team's shoes and raise money with a sponsored walk, cycle, or run.
However you might choose to support The Pepper Foundation, we are grateful for our supporters as we simply couldn't continue to fund this service without you!
