This Summer I will take on my biggest cycling challenge to date by cycling from Lands End to John OGroats. I will ride an average of 100 miles per day across 10 days. My challenge starts on 1st June, and I will be cycling with my dad, who recently retired and took up cycling from scratch.
I couldnt ask for a better person to take on this challenge with. My dad set himself several retirement goals but this one is undoubtedly the most physically challenging. Ive helped him on his cycling journey thus far with everything from buying his first bike, to creating his training plan, and I cant wait to be by his side as we ride into John OGroats together. Im sure there will be lots of laughter (and maybe a few tears too), and I know it will be amazing to experience the beautiful British countryside in all its glory with him. We cant wait to get started!
Ive decided to partner with the charity Hope and Homes for Children, all the money I am able to raise through my sponsors will benefit them. My goal is to raise £9,700, thats £10 for every mile I cycle between Lands End and John OGroats.
Orphanages dont protect children, they harm them. Hope and Homes for Children work across the globe to keep children out of institutions and in loving families, where they belong.
Every mile I cycle and every pound I can raise will help to keep more children out of orphanages and in loving families. On average, it costs £1,140 to reunite a child from an orphanage with their loving family and ensure that the family have everything they need to keep their children safe and happy with their family for good. This means that if I hit my target, I could help at least 8 children to grow up at home, with the love of a family.
Thank you for reading my story and thank you for your support. I know what its like to have been raised by a loving and supportive family and with your support, we can consign orphanages to the history books in our lifetime.
