Cancer affects everyone, with one in two people now diagnosed with some form of this destructive disease in their lifetime. It can decimate families and change lives forever.
Established by Professor Robert Rees in 2008, the Centre has pioneered innovative approaches for diagnosing cancer better; for predicting how the disease will develop and respond to therapy; and for boosting the immune system to fight cancer, known as immunotherapy.
Immunotherapy is an exciting and rapidly developing area that has the potential to significantly improve the management of cancer, helping patients live longer and healthier lives.
The significant advances achieved by the Centre range from improving our understanding of how prostate cancer spreads around the body, to helping take critical steps in developing new treatments for breast, prostate, brain and blood cancers.
