Story

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Baumer on August 26th at 3:20 p.m. at Hospice Huntsville. Jerry fought a malignant brain tumor with dignity and determination since March of last year. Jerry will forever and lovingly be remembered by his wife, Mary Katherine Baumer (nee Reitz) of 52 years, his sons, Michael Anthony Baumer of Huntsville, Ontario and Matthew James Baumer (and his wife, Suzane) of Caledon, Ontario. As well as his grandchildren, Randal John Richard Murray Baumer (and his wife, Ester) and Eric Christopher Baumer. His parents, Manfred and Erika Baumer, also of Huntsville, Ontario will greatly miss their only son. Jerry was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1949 and came to Canada as a young boy in 1954. He attended the University of Toronto and graduated in 1972 as a Civil Engineer (P-Eng). He had a fulfilling career designing and manufacturing lift truck attachments. Being mechanically inclined, Jerry enjoyed his many home projects and was very goal-oriented. He built a log bunkie from the ground up using his beloved woodmill. He enjoyed a wide variety of activities from fishing with friends, riding his Ryker, snowmobiling, as well as being an avid car enthusiast. After 60 years of cottaging on Lake Vernon, Jerry and Mary have called Huntsville their year-round home since retiring in 2018. Jerry enjoyed his community (Norvern Shores Association) and the many friendships made over the years, especially with the annual maple syrup gang. He was also an integral part of his extended family, who will cherish memories of weekend reunions and all the special moments spent with him.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Billingsley Funeral Home, 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville, Ontario from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Speeches will begin at 3:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Ted Leck and Pastor John Williamson.
