Story
Walk a mile* with jelly in your wellies to make sure that no family goes through a crisis alone.
For many of the families that our volunteers come alongside, life is really hard. But its not always obvious that people are struggling.
Its a bit like seeing someone walking along in their wellies, and not knowing that they are actually full of jelly, and the walk is so much harder because of it!
Over 1,000 families like this each year are supported by Safe Families volunteers but we can only do this with your help.
This summer we are launching our Jelly Welly Walk a chance for you and your family to walk a mile* with jelly in your wellies while raising money for Safe Families.
As you squelch, gloop and slosh along every pound raised will go towards providing the support and connections a family need to help them with the challenges life throws at them.
Some of us will be doing this on the weekend of June 19th, but pick a day that works for your family this summer and get in touch to let us know (https://safefamilies.uk/jellywellywalk/). Well send you everything you need to get started!
Last year we connected Clare, a young mum with a little boy, with one of our family friends. On first glance Clare might not have looked like she was struggling. She was at university whilst working part time, and had aspirations to become a doctor. But unseen to many around her she had recently escaped an abusive relationship and was extremely isolated with no family or friends to help her realise her dreams. Amazingly in the same area wed recently met Mary, a doctor who had joined Safe Families as a Family Friend! During lockdown they were able to have regular phone calls and messages, chatting through the ups and downs of life. And recently they have started meeting face to face. Clare has told us that Mary has been a rock as she has started to build up her community again. She has started to rebuild some connection with her wider family and says she is feeling more confident in her voice and worth.
So get on your Wellies, and fill them with Jelly and together we can support more families like Clare's.
*A mile, 3 miles, a marathon its up to you!
