Story
The JCCC Graphic Design program is asking for your help with funding the annual graduating portfolio showcase. Through this event, graduates display their portfolios, network with the creative professional community, and discuss their talents and strengths. Many of these vital connections, in turn, lead to jobs.
Since its beginning in 2000, the showcase has been a highly anticipated event for both professionals and graduates. The Kansas City creative community sees JCCC as competitive with four-year art and design colleges. Students come from near-and-far to attend JCCCs graphic design program. Many of our students come from different walks of life; they have previous degrees, are working full-time, are juggling a family, and more. The diversity of our students brings a myriad of unique life experiences to the program and adds to their skill advancement, portfolios, and personal brands.
Each fall, graphic design club students brainstorm and pitch ideas to build a brand for the showcase. They work hard at fundraising, helping other clubs on campus, and working to apply the campaign to the printed postcards and posters; the students also create a website to highlight each graduates portfolio.
Students in the program are inspired, passionate, and talented. They involve themselves outside the classroom and into the Kansas City design and advertising community. Many obtain internships and are active with professional groups such as: AIGA KC and KC Ad Club. Showcase participants are eager to show what they have gained through these experiences.
We hope you will join us for this years showcase on May 5, 2022.
JCCC supports our Crowdfunding Project to supplement the many fundraising events that students hold on campus during the school year. Please help by donating whatever you can by using the 'Give Now' button, and/or, spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. It takes a design village to make this event a success. Thank you in advance for your generosity. It means a lot to us!
Your kind donation will benefit all graduates that choose to participate in our Graphic Design Showcase. First use of funding goes toward the implementation of the entire group's showcase event. After that, graduates are offered the opportunity to be reimbursed from these funds for the tools they need for their job search, such as business cards, promotional pieces and their portfolio. These funds can also be used to help students submit their work to design competitions and other scholarships. See below for some examples of what your donation could fund:
