Story

We thought it would be fun to approach local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To our delight eleven agreed, and here we are today.

Our courageous jail-birds have been charged with outrageous crimes such as: 'Winning too many raffles', 'Attempting to impersonate Bob Dylan' and 'Singing around the office'.

Representing organisations including Wood, Global E&C and TMM Recruitment, the criminals have stood before Sheriff Tierney, been found guilty, and are now in cuffs and behind bars!

Bail for each has been set at £1,000 and they have been sent down to contemplate their crimes while raising funds to pay their bail and get out of jail. They are counting on your support. Their freedom and reputation depend on it!

Jail or Bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, and there is an important reason behind the event: to raise funds for Maggie's Aberdeen.

For many people living in the Northeast, Maggie's Aberdeen is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people at any stage and with any type of cancer, and to their family and friends.

In the past decade the centre has welcomed over 10,000 visits, provided thousands of hours of 1-2-1 psychological and specialist cancer support and secured £9,000,000 in financial gains for local people.

Maggie’s centres are places where people with cancer find the hope, determination, and the resources they need to cope with one of the toughest challenges any of us is likely to have to face.

With over 50% of the population being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it has never been more essential to have access to the support available at Maggie’s.

The prisoners have until 3pm on Friday 23 February to fundraise their way to freedom using their mobile phones, laptops and social media channels.

To help raise bail (make a donation) in support of your favourite convict, please visit their fundraising page - see 'Fundraisers', on RHS of this page.

Thank you for supporting Jail or Bail. Your kindness and generosity will make an incredible difference to Maggie's Aberdeen.
