Story
Three years ago my dad was diagnosed with kidney failure. For someone who was so active, this had such a massive impact on his everyday life. He was restricted in his daily activities, having to make time for dialysis every day, three times a day.
He waited for the day a phone call would come to say a new kidney had been found. And in January of this year, he got that call. He was completely overwhelmed and grateful for a new chance of life.
After an extremely successful transplant and ten days in the City Hospital, he went home with hope for the future. However, even though the kidney had woken up and was working, we were devastated when an underlying heart condition took dad from us.
Over the course of his kidney transplant journey, dad received such incredible medical attention from the Nephrology Department and NI Kidney Research and he had plans and hopes to support the charity who were so kind to him and who funded research, supported individuals and families and bought specialist medical equipment for the hospitals.
As a family, we want to honour dad's wishes in working with NI Kidney Research and with the help of his friend, David Boyle, the Caring Caretaker, a group of us are taking part in 'Jail and Bail' where were hope to raise £500 each.
Please help us to support this fantastic charity and change lives and care for those who are suffering from kidney failure. Thank you
THIS WILL BE THE CARING CARETAKER'S LAST FUNDRAISER.
