Story
We thought it would be fun to approach local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's.
Jail or Bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, and there is an important reason behind the event: to raise funds for Maggie's in Fife.
For many people living in Fife, Maggie's is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people at any stage and with any type of cancer, and to their family and friends.
On average we support between 50-60 people every day who are affected by cancer. Last year our benefits advisor claimed £4.5 million in financial gains for local people and we have provided thousands of hours of 1-2-1 psychological and specialist cancer support.
Maggie’s centres are places where people with cancer find the hope, determination, and the resources they need to cope with one of the toughest challenges any of us is likely to have to face.
With over 50% of the population being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it has never been more essential to have access to the support available at Maggie’s.
The prisoners have until 4pm on Friday 1st November to fundraise their way to freedom using their mobile phones, laptops and social media channels.
If our 6 prisoners can collectively secure their bail target of £6000, that will automatically trigger a match funding donation of £6000 from our friends at Smith Anderson Group. This would be enough to cover the running costs of the centre for one full week (£12,000)!
To help raise bail (make a donation) in support of your favourite convict, please visit their fundraising page - see 'Fundraisers', on the right hand side of this page.
Thank you for supporting Jail or Bail. Your kindness and generosity will make an incredible difference to Maggie's in Fife.
