Story
Just4Children are raising funds to support Jacob who needs on going specialist therapy to help develop his skills and to give him the best chance of independence and mobility.
Our little Prince Jacob is a courageous 5 year-old who faced a challenging start in life. Born without a heartbeat due to his mother’s internal bleeding, Jacob took his first breath after 16 agonizing minutes, resulting in severe bilateral brain damage. From the moment he was born, Jacob has faced immense challenges with remarkable strength.
Jacob’s brain injury has led to quadriplegic cerebral palsy, uncontrollable/drug resistant epilepsy, cortical visual impairment (he is registered blind) and dystonia. Jacob has multiple seizures a day and experiences extreme stiffness in his muscles which cause him great discomfort and can be heart renching to watch. He is non-mobile and non-verbal, requiring 24-hour care. Watching our little boy endure daily struggles that many of us take for granted is heartbreaking. Every smile, every small achievement, is a monumental victory for him and us and a testament to his incredible strength.
Jacob needs ongoing therapy to help him gain some independence, develop functional skills, and maintain muscle range. Since birth, he has undergone various therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, ABM, MAES, the Scotson Technique, private physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, cranial sacral therapy, stem cell therapy, DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) and more recently we have been supported by a private speech and language therapist with his communication. Each therapy session is a glimmer of hope for a better quality of life. Much of this has been funded through the generous support of previous fundraising efforts, for which we are immensely grateful.
However, Jacob’s condition requires lifelong care, continuous therapy, and specialist equipment not provided by the NHS, all of which are costly for his parents. He needs appropriate specialist equipment to promote independence and comfort and to prevent skeletal and postural problems.
Jacob inspires us every day with his resilience and has shown us what unconditional love truly is. Despite the odds, he continues to fight and thrive in his own Jacob way! He wasn’t expected to survive beyond two days, but here he is, defying expectations and teaching us what true bravery looks like. He is our world, and we want to give him the best possible life. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to providing Jacob with the care and equipment he needs to flourish.
Thank you for your support. Your generosity can make a world of difference in Jacob’s life.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jacob’s Family
