The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileJack is a 17 year old boy with uncontrollably epilepsy, autism, selective mutism and depression. Jack is currently at an elevated risk of SUDEP, SUDEP is also known as the following; sudden, unexpected death of someone with epilepsy, who is otherwise healthy. This is the leading cause of death in people with uncontrolled seizures.
Jack has had seizures in the past that have lasted over six minutes, he has also had a number of seizures that have caused his oxygen levels to remain low, thereby meaning a stay in hospital overnight. Over the past year we have been in hospital due to the seizures causing after effects with Jack's health. In addition to Jack's epilepsy Jack has generalised anxiety disorder, this has effectively affected his mental health and how he perceives his epilepsy.
At this moment in time we are fundraising to try and keep Jack safe from SUDEP, therefore we need the following pieces of equipment.
An epilepsy Identification bracelet so that people/medics can be informed that Jack is epileptic.
A saturation monitor so that Jack can be monitored during the night.
Some anti suffocation pillows so that the risk of SUDEP maybe reduced. Jack needs 4 pillows as he likes to sleep propped upright.
An epilepsy watch for when jack is at college so that he can be put into a safe place.
Art therapy where he can access the mental health support that is needed. This is not available on the National Health Service (NHS).
Any money not used, will be donated to the BLF to help other children.
