Izzy’s Pilgrim Way Walk

Our good friend Izzy Coelho is going to walk the 835 km (519mile) Pilgrim Way route, the Camino De Santiago De La Costa, or North Route, from Irun to Santiago de Compostella, raising funds for Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.

Story

Izzy is a stalwart member of the local Freshwater community who has decided to raise funds for the local lifeboat by carrying out the mammoth task of completing the 835 kilometre (519 mile) Pilgrim Way walk from Irun to Santiago De Compostella in Spain. This is something Izzy has wanted to do for many many years and at last it has come to fruition, but with the added bonus that it will hopefully provide much needed funds for Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, a charity close to his heart.

Izzy hopes to start the walk on 17th September 2023 and complete it around the 21st October.

About the charity

FILB operates 2 lifeboats and is on call to the Coast Guard 24 hours a day, 365 days a year covering the area of the South West Isle of Wight. Tasks include helping casualty vessels in need, making recoveries from the cliffs, searches for people and providing safety overwatch from the water.
