Story
Isaac experienced a hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) event when he was born in September 2023 due to getting stuck during birth. This means that he went without sufficient oxygen, which caused an injury to his brain. He received amazing care, including his whole body being cooled for 72 hours in the NICU. He spent his first three weeks there, but we later learned that the injury would affect his movement and coordination for the rest of his life.
This led to a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, meaning that he will face challenges with mobility and motor skills. Isaac is amazing and is working with incredible determination to surprise us with what he can do. To support him in this, he is receiving physiotherapy at Children in Motion, who provide specialist treatment using the MAES approach. We are already seeing great results with Isaac, and they are also teaching us how to help him at home.
Treatment is £105 per hour, and we would love to be able to take Isaac weekly. We are also planning some intensive weeks of daily therapy a few times a year. The cost is obviously a challenge, so any help would make a difference in what we can provide for him. We also expect this treatment to be ongoing. Isaac is exceeding expectations with this therapy, and we are so proud of him.
We are using Tree of Hope as a fundraising partner to benefit from Gift Aid and to give our supporters the confidence that any donations will be handled well.
7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover their core operating costs.
If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, the funds will be used, if appropriate, to support our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives. If, in those circumstances, we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child, any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to support the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
